The work visualizes the model of the British criminologist Dr. Jane Monckton Smith. Smith describes a pattern of eight phases that precede most femicides in a partnership. All phases are characterized by an enormous need for control and end in femicide.The vase symbolizes the traditional patriarchal perspective on women, depicting them as fragile, domestic objects to be owned and controlled.
In a sequence of eight steps, the vase cracks and is finally broken completely.
